Two new members joined the BPO

BPO Board on its meeting on 4th September 2014 in Roenne accepted Sundsvall Logistic’s Park | Port of Sundsvall and Saarte Liinid applications and gave them a status of the BPO member.

Saarte Liinid is active since 1 October 1994. Its main fields of activity include the maintenance and development of Estonian harbours. That means ensuring safe navigation for ferries between the mainland and the islands. Saarte Liinid handles cargo and services passengers through the ports it administers in the most agreeable way for the passengers.

Port of Sundsvall is a TEN-port class A and is handling about 2.0 M ton annually. The forecast for 2025 is about 3.0 M ton, mainly based on increased production of wood products, pulp and paper in the Sundsvall area.Port of Sundsvall is owned by the Sundsvall municipal company Stadsbacken AB, (85 %) and by SCA Logistics AB, (15 %).

The municipal company Sundsvall Logistikpark AB, coordinates the development of an efficient and sustainable transport hub with connections between road, railway and shipping in the area close to the Port of Sundsvall. This investment will be done together with the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) and SCA, and is important for the environment and economic growth in the region.

It is through our members and their support BPO is able to continue to strengthen its programs and to develop new and innovative projects to serve the Baltic Sea region community. With members' support BPO is improving the competitiveness of maritime transport and the port industry in the Baltic region even more effectively.
