Port Competitiveness and Business Opportunities 2014 (Danish Maritime Days)

International trends and developmets increasingly affect the port market. This year’s port conference focuses on Port Competitiveness and Business Opportunities, where international speakers address important issues that affect ports and harbors at the present, such as business development within shipping, performance indicators for ports, hinterlad infrastructure and EU policy.

The Port Conference is a yearly event arranged by the Danish Society of Transport Economics and is a perfect opportunity to network with other professionals, researchers and specialists within ports as well as to get insights on the newest developments within ports and harbors.

Time  & venue: Tuesday 7th of October 2014 at Bella Center Copenhagen

- Expert Olaf Merk, OECD, on maritime and port trends and port-city relation
- Prof. Dr. Peter de Langen on performance indicators, port hinterland and port cooperation
- Prof. Dr. Michael Dooms on Portopia, a European benchmark tool for port performance
- MEP Michael Cramer (Greens/EFA, DE) on the role of European ports and the European policies to secure fair competition – state aid and ports policy (tbc)
- DG MOVE / CEF / TEN-T on EU funding for value adding maritime projects and European maritime strategy (tba)
- Senior Partner Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners Torsten Lodberg - Smed on infrastructure investment and risk management
- CEO Port of Gothenburg Magnus Kårestedt on port business development
- Unifeeder Jesper Christensen on performance and infrastructure needs for ship calls in Northern Europe
- Director Maersk Line Hans Henrik Sørensen on shipping tendencies, climate change and port needs
